Lead Learners: New Teacher and Mentor Teacher Program

Edspire Leadership will work with new teacher cohorts and/or their mentors to develop a scope and sequence of monthly learning topics to cover during the first academic year. Topics will be tailored to the district’s needs and align with each district’s strategic plan, but can include themes such as: avoiding new teacher burnout, positivity in the classroom, seeking joy, building relationships with students and families, establishing a PLN and digital footprint, etc. Edspire Leadership will then check in monthly with the mentors and new teachers to provide topic information, research based talking points and articles, and seek feedback to move forward. An in-person mid-year and end of year check in are also provided.

The Inquiry Process for Students and Teachers

Edspire Leadership will work with groups of teachers and/or principals to develop an inquiry based approach to teaching and learning. The session will use tools such as the discussion of Problems of Practice, an Inquiry Approach to teaching and learning, Project Based Learning, and Data Collection and Reflection to establish a culture of inquiry in a classroom or across a school building. The session can be tailored for teachers to use with their students or for principals to use with their teachers.

Developing a Culture of Leadership

Edspire Leadership will work with groups of teachers and/or principals to embed a culture of teacher and student leadership in a school building. The literature suggests that connecting educators and students to projects that provide autonomy and purpose allows them to take ownership for the academic and environmental success of a school community. Using research based practices, we will work with teachers and principals to develop routines and procedures to reinforce student and teacher leadership within a school culture. Discussion of teacher led professional learning can be integrated, if desired. The session can be tailored for teachers to use with their students or for principals to use with their teachers.
